We host a variety of activity groups and social spaces which are welcome to everyone, supported by Voluntary Action Rotherham and local GP Surgeries via Social Prescribing. Social Prescribing is a service which is about helping people with Long-term conditions to access non-medical sources of support within the community. This could be in the form of activities and groups, or volunteering. It has been shown to reduce people’s feelings of social isolation, helps them to make friends and to enjoy a range of activities, which in turn has a positive effect on how they feel about themselves. The evidence suggests that this also helps to reduce GP attendance and Hospital admissions, so saving money for the NHS.
